About this video

Mondlicht Studios had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with BMW and Epic Games on an exciting project: the creation of a stunning cinematic for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) using the cutting-edge Unreal Engine 5. Our main objective was to push the boundaries of Unreal Engine 5 and explore the capabilities of Substrate, a revolutionary material authoring system. Substrate provided us with a versatile and modular framework, allowing for a wide range of surface appearances and a more extensive parameter space. As passionate automotive enthusiasts, we couldn't resist showcasing the power of Substrate by focusing on the changing car paint. The video revolves around the transformation of materials.
